The bidding process

If you see a tender you would like to bid for, it couldn't be easier. Click on the 'Bid for this legal work' icon and follow the instructions. We'll need to know how you propose to charge for the work. Will you be doing the work for a fixed fee? Will you be charging a success fee and, if so, how is it calculated? You can also do a combination - perhaps a fixed fee for part of the work and then a success fee (if permitted) or hourly rate thereafter.

If you're going to give an hourly rate, we ask you also to give your best estimate of what the final bill is likely to be. We realise that it's not easy to give an accurate fee quote before you've met the clients. We'll have given you as much information as we can to help you decide how to charge for the work. You'll have to make it clear if you're giving a non-binding estimate, rather than a fixed quote.

We also know that not all clients will decide solely on price. It's for that reason we give a very brief summary about the size of your firm and where it's located when you bid for legal work. A client may well be happy paying more to deal with a firm that's local to them or has more critical mass.

We don't give your details to potential clients unless/until they've accepted your bid for their legal work. Then we put you in touch with each other and let you get on with it. We have no further involvement. We do not take a commission or a 'cut' of the amount you eventually charge the client. Neither can we help in fee recovery, so it's up to you whether you want to take fees up front. You'll be responsible for all the usual client identification procedures, in the usual way.
